Q: What do I need to bring to a visit?
A: You must bring your insurance card to each and every visit. If we cannot verify active insurance, you will be offered the option to pay fee for service at the time of the visit, or to reschedule. You also are responsible to bring any required copay. If your child is coming for a visit with someone other than a parent, please send a signed note of permission, and any copayment due. Please bring forms you would like filled out so they may be prepared at the visit or within 48 hours.
Q: Why are you asking to verify my contact information each time I come?
A: Many families have demographic changes throughout the year.. Each visit we will ask to verify your mailing address, phone contact, email address, and method of preferred contact so that we may best serve you. This ensures we can notify you of test results, return calls, and call with appointment reminders.,
Q: What if I have a concern when the office is closed?
A: For non-urgent concerns (prescription refills, scheduling changes, general health and development questions) call the main number 437-6777 during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00-5:00. If you have an urgent health concern, call the office at 401-437-6777 and you will be instructed how to reach the physician on call. Please ensure your phone is accepting calls from a blocked number in order for the physician to return your call. You should receive a call back within 30 minutes; if you do not, please call again. Please be advised that per your insurer, after hours calls may be viewed as a telehealth visit, which would be subject to any copays or deductibles that may apply.
Q: What if I have an urgent concern on the weekend?
A: There is always a pediatrician available to you for urgent phone advice or telehealth, as well as sick visits on the weekends. We have several pediatric practices to provide this coverage service. Weekend morning sick visits will be performed at the office of the physician on call, by appointment. Call our main number 401-437-6777, and you will be instructed how to reach the covering weekend physician. Q: How often should my child see the pediatrician?
A: It is important to schedule well-child exams regularly, beginning in infancy. These routine examinations provide the best opportunity for your doctor to observe the progress of your child's growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect potential issues through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another. Well-child visits are a crucial part of preventive pediatric care, and a good time for parents to raise questions and concerns about a child's development, behavior, nutrition, safety and overall well-being.
Recommended scheduled visits include:
- 2 weeks
- 1 month
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
- 30 months
- 3 years
- And once every year thereafter for an annual health supervision visit that includes a physical exam as well as a developmental, behavioral, and learning assessment.
** a visit at 3-5 days of life is also necessary per the AAP, our office, and the hospital. This is not deemed a well child visit per insurers and they mandate it be billed as a "sick" visit with a copayment due.
Q: What is the best way to schedule an appointment with your office?
A: Please call our office Monday through Friday 9:00-5:00 to schedule all appointments. We do not monitor the website or email daily for appointment requests.
Q: Is your office accepting new patients?
A: Yes, we welcome new patients. Contact our office for additional information and to verify that we accept your insurance. We do not accept Neighborhood Health Plan.
Q: Why does my child need to receive vaccinations?
A: Immunizations are a series of shots given to children at established ages to best invoke their immune system and prevent serious and potentially fatal diseases. Making sure your child receives immunizations when scheduled is the best way to help protect your child as well as your community. Vaccinations have reduced the number of infections from vaccine-preventable diseases by more than 90%. We are a fully vaccinating practice and our doctors are committed to ensuring the health of all, by immunizing all appropriate patients at standard scheduled times. If you are apprehensive about vaccinations, please discuss your concerns with your physician; for the safety of all our patients, we are unable to accept families that are not vaccinating into our practice.
